Marchetti Wines

We are so honoured to have Marchetti Wines be a sponser of our first gallery event!  They will be serving three of their newest varietals;
Sangiovese:  "The original grape of Chianti." Gorgeous ruby red in color.  It possesses huge flexibility, finesse, and compelling acidity, including sour cherries and other small juicy berried.  Its vaporous tannins know how to seduce the palate.

Tempranillo:  "An original Spanish varietal."  Best known as the dominant grape of the red rojos in Spain, it's most famous wine.  Deep in color, essentially savory rather than sweet.  Hints of pepper, leather and tobacco.  Snappy, fresh and vegetal, but also masculine.

Cabernet Franc:  "An original French varietal."  Originally utilized as a blending grape.  Deep flavor of small juicy berries.  Color is intense with a sweet and spicy toasted oak on the palate.  Tannins lay silky and long on the finish.

There is a message in every bottle that words cannot convey;

Allow for us to douse your pallet with a bouquet of emanating notes only our lineage craft could conjure. Our integrity sees no minimums in regulations for our varietals. They are 100% pure without any other strands to hinder the point within a varietal selection.

Flowing forth from our French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, are wines aged only with pure thought, which stems from 5 generations of winemaking, including precision and love. Marchetti's wines are absolutely crafted without any added sulfites.

The Penny Arcade Expo: Where we want to be.

Moses, Creative Technician
I'm lucky enough to live in the state with what is probably the best gaming convention. What sets PAX above many other conventions is that you are more likely to actually meet and get to know people as you sit down to play games with them. Though Video-games get a lot of the limelight, tabletop games get ample space and interest. They even have a table game library where you can try out all sorts of games for free, and in the surrounding play areas, you can often find game developers looking to test out their almost-ready-for-production games. Now if only the convention didn't sell out in less than 7 hours. At least you can still check out the PAX 10, their yearly picks of the games they think have the most innovative design.

For years and years my family members have preached the ways of standing. They said that Americans are killing themselves with desk jobs. So what do I wind up with, mostly a desk job. Although photography sounds like a fast paced high action job, it really isn't, for me at least. I don't often choose wedding gigs, which are spectacularly grueling. Most of the time we have a shoot in the studio we’re on our feet for about six to eight hours and then we’re done for the day. The next week, is all post processing. That means I spend three to four days sitting in a chair for six to eight hour stretches.

Monday I sat down to work on some old projects, and by the end of the day I couldn't feel my right leg, and my hip was killing me. Tuesday same schedule planned and I couldn't bear another day of pain. I found a couple of shelving units and raised my screen up, thankfully it was the perfect height. There was only one problem, my keyboard was two inches from my screen and I didn't have a place for my oversized drawing tablet. I went online and found a simple laptop desk, and a fatigue relief mat. All in all it only cost me a 50 dollar upgrade to my original desk.

I've been working with this standing desk now for five days, and I can say I feel so much better. My hip and leg stopped hurting, I can do other things quicker since I don't have everything on my lap, and an unexpected benefit; I get to dance to my music! I would totally recommend a standing desk to anyone. You will feel better! I am 5’4” here is the upgrades I made:

I bought this laptop desk at Walmart. I recommend this one because of its adjustable height, and what I found out from use is that u really need one that have adjustable tilt as well. I have mine at an odd angle, but it makes it easy on your wrists : Laptop Desk

I bought the relief mat which fits just in between the wheels of the laptop desk at Home Depot: Relief Mat

These are the shelving units we had in the house, but worked great. They are a bit overpriced now, but you could build them super cheap from wood at the Home Depot as well: Shelving Units

There is one more addition that I wound up having to use, I had to find a way to lift my mouse higher, because it was hurting my wrist the other way.

The Scourge of Modern Portraits

People are exposed to portrait photography all the time now a days, from early class photos, to getting your drivers-license, to doing a shelf-shoot for your profile page. This blandness, this dip, this low-point is what you get when a medium explodes in saturation. I saw this in television, as things got blander to reach the widest audience. Television still has a lot of blandness, but people have realized that they don't have to conform to that, and the medium is rising out of that dip, and we're seeing some truly great work on TV now (even on broadcast TV). Portrait photography has become watered down and boring. We hate boring. There are endless portraits out there of people with fake smiles, standing stiffly in front of a blue background. Why would you want photos of you that say more about your biology then who you are as a person. It takes some work, but why would you be normal, when you can Be Art?
